How to talk about hypothetical situations in the future?
Use if … + [past simple]/were, … would + to + [infinitive] to talk about something in the future that is probably not going to happen.
Would shows that you are quite certain about what you would do if not for the circumstances.
For example, a phrase like this:
If I wrote that book, I would become famous.
